One person. One new job.

This is a made-up example. Add your own dates and hours.

01 Tell us about the job

Each date includes the whole day.

Use one person’s hours. Include the work, changes and job meetings. Your best estimate is a good place to start.

02 Start with a usual week

Use one person’s Monday–Friday week. Start with all work hours. Count business tasks and other jobs once each. Leave this new job out.

Some weeks are different / time off

Only change weeks that differ from your usual week. “Other jobs” replaces that week’s usual amount. Add time off, including holidays, once. Use only the dates shown.

The result changes as you type. Save a copy if you want to keep it.

Agree on changes to the work or date before you start. If you bring in help, allow time to brief them and check their work.

For each row, we start with work hours and take away business tasks, other jobs and time off. Free hours cannot fall below zero. For short weeks, we multiply the usual work, business-task and other-job hours by the weekdays shown, then divide by 5. Any weekly changes replace that row’s usual other-job hours. Time off is the amount entered for that row.

We spread each row’s free hours evenly over its weekdays. We add those hours through the deadline. The earliest finish is the first day with enough total free hours for this job.

More hours needed = job hours minus free hours by the deadline, with a minimum of zero. We use only the dates shown. We do not move work from an overbooked week to another week. We round the hours shown, but use full values for the math.

What this plan can tell you.

This plan estimates one person’s free hours. It uses Monday–Friday and spreads each row’s free time evenly across those days. It assumes the new job can use all that time from the start date. It cannot see your calendar, the order of tasks, waits for approval, skills needed or anyone else’s hours.

We repeat your usual week unless you change a row. The tool checks far enough to include the deadline and an estimated finish, up to 182 calendar days including the start date. It does not guess a finish after that limit. Add holidays as time off. In a short week, enter only other work and time off on the dates shown. Don’t count the same hours twice. If a week is already too full, we flag it. We do not move that work to another week.

The finish date is an estimate. Check the real calendar, allow time for delays, and agree on changes before you promise a date. This page does not book time. It does not send your entries, notes or results anywhere.
